For you Wild West fans, this is an old newspaper photo of the grave of bandit queen Belle Starr taken when her cabin and barn were still standing, Youngers Bend, near Hoyt, Oklahoma on the Canadian River. Youngers Bend is near the dam site of Lake Eufaula.

The Oklahoma Historical Society and volunteers have restored the grave site and built a cabin replica. These pictures are from a facebook page for Youngers Bend. When I downloaded these photos there were no credits for the photographs, but whoever you are, thank you.

The headstone shown at left. I have no information on when this photo was taken, or by whom.

The grave marker for Edward Dixon Westfall, Elmendorf, Bexar County, Texas. E.D. Westfall was famous in his time as a early settler west of San Antonio, who had many scrapes with Indians and was a close friend of Big Foot Wallace, another Texas legend. Westfall help create the San Antonio Public Library, one of the first public libraries in the U.S. He retired from his ranch and lived a peaceful life until his death in San Antonio.

"IN LOVING REMEMBERANCE OF MY LOVING HUSBAND EDWARD DIXON WESTFALL Born Vincennes [K]Nox County Indiana DEC. 22, 1820 DIED JUNE 12, 1897"

Map of the Elmendorf Cemetery, Bexar County, Texas. I believe the grave and headstone for E. D. Westfall is located in the section off N. 55th Ave. just above the cemetery label in the map. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can validate my guess.

Sarah Price Webb, a Lauderdale County, Alabama Whitsett descendant in Thalia, Texas.
